Religion

As an Anglican school, Christ Church Grammar School is deeply committed to religious education as a central element in its curriculum.

At the same time it is sensitive to the varied backgrounds of its students, who are drawn from every major Christian denomination and every major world faith. Boys attend regular worship in the School Chapel and religious education occurs within the curriculum. Each boy is encouraged to develop his personal faith within this context but the School acknowledges that the boy's parents and his parish church must play a central role in his religious education.

The Chapel Services provide an experience of Christian worship in the Anglican tradition. Boys also attend Services in the local parish church and in the Cathedral, whose choir is supported by the School. The Head of Philosophy, Ethics and Religion is responsible for religious education in class time throughout the School. The Chaplain prepares boarders for their First Communion in co-operation with the boys' home parishes. As part of the counselling team in the School, the Chaplain is readily accessible for personal counselling.
