The Waiting List

If an application is received before intake year offers have been issued, the applicant’s name will be placed on a waiting list for the requested year of entry. This applies to all boys, including siblings and sons of former students. If an application is received after offers have been issued a boy’s name will be added to the waiting list for the most appropriate year of entry.

In general, for Years 4, 7 and 10 offers are issued approximately three years prior to a boy’s first day of attendance and 18 months prior to initial attendance for Pre-Primary.

A boy’s position on the waiting list may go up and down according to a variety of factors including the School’s policy of preferencing families with sons already attending, or confirmed to come to the School, along with sons and grandsons of old boys.

Intake Year Places

Pre-Primary and Year 1
Each year there are 48 places available, spread over two years – 40 places in Pre-Primary and a further eight places in Year 1 for the following year. The Year 1 places are offered to those on the Pre-Primary waiting list once the Pre-Primary classes are full.

Years 4, 7 and 10
In Year 4 there are 50 new places available with another 75 openings in Year 7 and a further 25 in Year 10.

Intake Year Offers

The offer process commences with a letter to all families with boys on the waiting list seeking feedback on whether a place at Christ Church is still required. At this point the School also requests your son’s current school reports and any specialist reports if he needs support with his learning and/or his behaviour. Once this feedback has been received the Headmaster will issue the first round of offers, followed by second round offers as places become available. The offer process may therefore take several months, with the Headmaster continuing to offer places until the classes are full.

One of the conditions of acceptance of a place is the payment of the Enrolment Fee, which is equivalent to one term’s fees in the Senior School. Receipt of this fee confirms a boy’s place at Christ Church. Click HERE to access the Fees document which provides more details.

Should the Headmaster be unable to offer a place in the Senior School a boy would be kept on the waiting list for the relevant year. If the Headmaster is unable to offer a place in either Pre-Primary or Year 4 a boy would be moved to the waiting list for the next intake year, with a note made of the original request. The original date at which the application was submitted would be maintained.
