Dressed and Ready for Action
How do you dress more than 250 new students ready for the start of the school year? With a lot of help, says Uniform Shop Manager Mrs Chrissie Lidstone. Over six days during December and January, the Uniform Shop was abuzz with its annual appointment days where boys were kitted out from head to toe in all manner of school attire.
With the support of 66 volunteers, Mrs Lidstone and her team of dedicated mums held 42 appointments each day, spending up to an hour with each boy.
The ladies have the process down to a fine art – starting with bathers and sports uniforms and layering right through to formals.
The volunteers are all Christ Church mums with boys in either the Prep School, Senior School or both. Some have previously worked at appointment days whilst others were new to the experience.
“For many families the Uniform Shop is one of their first contacts with the Christ Church community,” Mrs Lidstone said.
“We try to make the experience as pleasant and informative as possible.
“It is wonderful to see current Christ Church mums sharing ideas with the new families, especially those who have recently arrived in Perth.”
Appointments days would not be possible without the help of volunteers. The School and Mrs Lidstone would like to sincerely thank all the mums for giving so generously of their time.
