New Support Staff 2009
Dr Anne Angelkovska BAHons(Murdoch), GradDipEd(UWA), PhD(UWA) has been appointed to the part-time position of School Psychologist, effective 1 January 2009. Anne has extensive experience working in very low SES schools with children who present with very complex emotional and behavioural issues. Her main contribution to each of these schools has been assisting and guiding them to shift from a very reactionary style of response to a more proactive style which appears to have made an enormous difference to staff moral, motivation, student engagement and behaviour. Anne is also the Principal Psychologist at the Centre for Attention and related Disorders at the Graduate School of Education, UWA and is responsible for the assessment and reporting of individuals who have been referred for investigation for learning difficulties/disorders, ADHD, Anxiety and development disorders. Anne’s appointment provides Christ Church with two dedicated psychologists for the Senior School.
Mrs Venetia MacBean has been offered the full time position of Canteen Assistant in the School Refectory. She will assist with food preparation, organisation of the hot food menu and providing assistance to the Canteen Manager. Venetia has a wealth of experience in this area, having run her own successful catering business for the last nine years.
Ms Wendy MacDougall has been appointed as the Headmaster’s Secretary effective Wednesday 12 November 2008. Wendy has an outstanding record as an Executive Assistant/Office Manager with 30 years experience in a number of different organisations, including the Christian Brothers, WA Bar Association, John Fairfax Publications and KvB College of Visual Communication.
Kooringal Staff
Mr Patrick Apps has been appointed to the position of Kooringal Outdoor Educator. He worked at Christ Church in 2005 as a Kooringal Assistant and, since then, has been working on a casual basis as an instructor at Kooringal, as well as with other companies in the outdoor industry in WA and Victoria. Patrick holds a Diploma of Outdoor Recreation from Central TAFE and has been working in this industry for five years. He is passionate about the outdoors, as well as engaging students in learning and enjoying their experiences at Kooringal, which he believes are an important tool for personal growth.
Mr Baden McMillan will commence the position of Kooringal Outdoor Education Assistant this year. He previously worked at Mornington Adventure Camp in Harvey as an instructor, and has extensive experience with instructing abseiling, mountain biking, high ropes and other activities. Baden is an outdoor enthusiast and is excited to develop and learn new skills and pass on this knowledge to students.
Ms Alice Muhling joins the Kooringal team this year as a Kooringal Outdoor Education Assistant. Prior to this role she completed a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health Science. As an assistant she hopes to learn from the experienced staff at Kooringal and educate boys with these new skills, in combination with her practical and coaching abilities. Alice has an enthusiastic approach to outdoor and physical activities and endeavours to provide a positive and fun outdoor education experience for students.
