Monks Prayer for Peace

The sound of deep harmonic chanting by Tibetan Buddhist monks filled the Chapel as part of a sacred mandala ceremony held during the week. Over two days, the four monks created an intricate sand mandala - a gesture of peace and harmony.

Geography Student to Represent Australia

A month before the world is gripped by Olympic fever, Year 12 student Lawrence Ward will represent Australia in a different kind of Olympiad. The Christ Church student was recently named in the national team for the 2008 International Geography Olympiad, to be held in Tunisia, in August.

Young Maestro Performs with Nation's Best

Year 10 student Riley Skevington has become one of the youngest musicians to be selected in the Australian Youth Orchestra. Riley, who turns 15 next week, flew to Melbourne this week to begin rehearsals for the orchestra’s first season for 2008. The violinist will perform alongside musicians, who are mostly in their twenties and studying music at tertiary and postgraduate level.

How do you dress more than 250 new students ready for the start of the school year? With a lot of help, says Uniform Shop Manager Mrs Chrissie Lidstone. Over six days during December and January, the Uniform Shop was abuzz with its annual appointment days where boys were kitted out from head to toe in all manner of school attire.

2007 TEE and WSA Results

Of the 160 students who obtained a Tertiary Entrance Score, 24 students achieved a Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) of 99 or above which is the largest group ever to have achieved at this level. 53 boys achieved a TER of 95 or above and 92 students (58% of TEE candidates) achieved a TER greater than 90. Of the 36 Wholly School Assessed (WSA) students one boy was awarded the Subject Exhibition for a Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) course.

Seven Christ Church students were awarded General Exhibitions for outstanding all-round academic achievement in Year 12 providing Christ Church with its best ever result in 2007.
