Boarding at Christ Church
Christ Church has been caring for boarders for almost a century. Our boarders come from country districts in Western Australia, inter-state and overseas. The diversity of their backgrounds enriches school life. The boys have the opportunity to develop friendships with students from all over the world.
Boarding provides a warm and nurturing educational environment for the boys as they move through their adolescent years. They enjoy the company of their peers and treasure the friendships they develop – friendships that often last a lifetime.
Growing up in a boarding house encourages students to develop tolerance, independence, the importance of co-operation and the value of sensitivity in a very close society. The boys share their school experiences and support one another. They enjoy belonging to a tight-knit community which is small enough for each boy to feel a sense of responsibility for his welfare and success and yet large enough to allow a diverse range of personalities to flourish.
Structure
2005 marked the formation of the Walters Residential Community. Parry, McClemans and Walters Houses were brought together under one banner. Parry, ‘the home’ of our Year 7 and 8 boys, reverted to its original name Knutsford and McClemans, home to half of our Year 10, 11 and 12 boarders is now known as Tower. Walters, where our Year 9s live along with the remaining Year 10, 11 and 12 boarders retains the name Walters.
