PMC Boys Build Historical Wooden Stools
Year 12 boys from the Peter Moyes Centre will take home a bit of school history at the end of the year – in the shape of a wooden stool.
James Fraser, Luke Andrews and Mark Pegus have built wooden stools as their Design and Technology project for the second half of the year. But these are no ordinary wooden stools. They have been built out of recycled material from the old design and technology building, which had been renovated from the original school building, which was built in 1910.
Design and Technology teacher Drew McDonald said the boys had done a great job on the stools and he was happy to see the beautiful old wood used on such a special project. “The boys really enjoyed working on the stools and were very excited to see the finished product recently. It’s really amazing how far these boys have come over the last couple of years in terms of their confidence.”
James said it had been great fun building his stool and was looking forward to using it as a chair at home, though he hadn’t decided where he would put it or whether it would be an inside or outside chair. Luke said his stool would be going in his room.
But for now, the boys are looking forward to seeing their stools on display in the end of year Design and Technology exhibition.
