Work Experience

Work Experience provides the opportunity for boys in Years 10, 11 and 12 to experience life in the workplace.

The programme gives individuals opportunities to choose an industry area of interest and spend time in that work environment observing and listening. The business community readily accepts work experience students. Many businesses have formulated work experience policies and are keen to help educate their future employees. Courtesy, punctuality, presentation and initiative are high on the list of competencies that boys are taught through work experience. Employers insist that these competencies are important if young people are to gain employment.

Once the student has arranged the placement they need to see the co-ordinator to arrange the necessary paperwork. The student is covered by the School’s insurance while they are on work experience. At the completion of their work experience the boys receive a Work Evaluation Report from their employer. Copies of the report are passed to their Tutor and Head of House.
