Full-time, 4-year Apprenticeship

Christ Church Grammar School is a Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 Anglican day and boarding school for boys in Perth, Western Australia.  With more than 1700 students, the School has a long and proud history of educational achievement and is one of the best performing, non-selective boys’ schools in Australia.

The School is seeking to appoint an energetic and reliable Apprentice (Horticulture) to join our Facilities Department and be part of a dedicated team of people responsible for the care and maintenance of the grounds and facilities throughout the campus and school owned properties.

The successful applicant will have a genuine passion and interest in Horticulture and the drive to learn and succeed.  This exciting opportunity enables you to gain hands on experience, the duties are varied and you will learn, Implement and carry out plant management programs in accordance with seasonal and general operational requirements.  In addition, you will undertake the associated training and studies required to complete a 4-year apprenticeship where you will be enrolled at the South Metropolitan TAFE in Murdoch.

Under the guidance of expert mentors, you will develop essential skills and earn a nationally recognised trade qualification.

Full-time, fixed-term for 2025

Two positions available

Christ Church Grammar School is seeking two trainees to be employed during 2025 at its Outdoor Education Centre, Kooringal, situated on the Murray River near the town of Dwellingup and 110 kilometres south-east of Perth.

This is an exciting opportunity commencing mid-January 2025 where you will complete a Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation along with other outdoor recreation qualifications.  The positions would ideally suit young enthusiastic persons who are keen to work with young people, enjoy being in the outdoor environment and possess a willingness to work and learn in all areas.  The one-year traineeship will be particularly valuable for people considering career pathways in education, outdoor recreation or sports industries.

The applicants we are seeking should have recently completed Year 12 studies and have a valid Australian driver’s licence (a manual licence would be highly regarded), you will be physically fit and enjoy practical learning.  You will work in a wide variety of environments across Western Australia and will be based/live in at our Kooringal Outdoor Education Centre.
