Christ Church Grammar School is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and experienced individual to lead our Kooringal Outdoor Education Centre as the Director of Kooringal & Coordinator of Outdoor Education.

About the Role:

As the Director of Kooringal & Coordinator of Outdoor Education, you will be at the heart of our transformative outdoor education program. Leading the day-to-day operations of our Kooringal campus, you will oversee the planning, development, and delivery of outdoor education experiences for students from Years 4 to 10, ensuring exceptional safety standards, educational engagement, and a holistic student experience.

You will collaborate with a dedicated team to design and execute a wide range of outdoor activities, including expeditions, kayaking, climbing, high ropes, navigation, and environmental sustainability. Your leadership will be critical in fostering a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment that empowers students to thrive and grow.

About You:

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Extensive leadership experience in outdoor education, with a proven ability to manage teams and complex programs.
  • Strong qualifications and certifications in Outdoor Education, along with expertise in risk management and safety protocols.
  • A passion for nature-based education and a deep commitment to fostering an environment where students can build resilience, leadership, and a love for the outdoors.
  • Proven experience in delivering outdoor adventure activities such as expeditions, orienteering, climbing, kayaking, and environmental education.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • A valid Australian driver’s licence (manual licence is highly regarded), along with the ability to pass necessary police and working with children checks.

Full-time, Fixed-Term - Three-Year Appointment

Christ Church Grammar School is seeking applications from dynamic, passionate and committed educators for this full-time position commencing mid Term 2 (Tuesday 3 June 2025) or the beginning of Term 3 (Monday 21 July 2025) by negotiation.

This position requires an educator with experience teaching English and English Literature across Years 7 to 12 to join a department that is committed to fostering the pursuit of knowledge.  It is a discipline which encourages each boy to achieve his potential and, through the promotion of wide reading and critical and creative thinking, develop a broad understanding of his own values and world views. 

The Assistant Head of Department is responsible for the everyday working of the Department in the teaching, learning and assessment of students in two-year groups – ideally in one junior (Years 7 – 9) and one senior (Years 10 – 12).

All staff are expected to support the ethos of the School, possess excellent teaching and interpersonal skills, will have an exceptional understanding of innovative educational pedagogy and show an understanding of boys’ educational teaching and learning practices.

It is an expectation of the School that all members of staff contribute to the co-curricular program in a way that balances the needs of the School and the successful applicant’s talents and interests. Similarly, staff are expected to be fully supportive of their pastoral responsibilities in a School that values highly the care of the individual within a House system that is vertically organised into tutor groups.

Initially, this is a three-year appointment; should the successful applicant cease to continue in this role following the three-year period, they will be employed as a full-time teacher in the Senior School English Department.
