National Science Week 2017
It is National Science Week (12 to 20 August) and this year’s theme is Future Earth, focussed around Australia’s sustainability science. Held during mid-August each year, National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology where thousands of individuals from students to scientists get involved. read more
Incredible talent showcased at the State Theatre Centre
Over 2000 attendees were drawn to the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia between 3 to 5 August to witness the impressively colourful production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, retelling the Biblical story of ‘Joseph’, his 11 brothers and the coat of many colours in a magical musical full of unforgettable songs. read more

Prep School boys from Years 3 to 6 recently took part in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), taking on a series problem solving challenges designed to put their mathematical thinking to the test. read more
Year 6 boys get a taste for what’s coming up

Our Year 3 and 4 boys got to a hopping start this week, participating in traditional and modern Noongar songs in the Chapel. The workshop, hosted by the Madjitil Moorna Choir, forms an introduction to Aboriginal culture as part of their Humanities and Music in Society classes. read more

Year 4 boys encounter the great outdoors
Our Year 4 boys had their very first experience of Kooringal at the end of March as part of the School’s comprehensive Outdoor Education program. This was a special opportunity for the boys to orientate themselves with the School’s Outdoor Education facilities that they will be accessing over the next five years of their schooling experience at Christ Church. read more

Year 3 boys make a smart start
Last Friday our Year 3 boys took part in the Start Smart program delivered by staff of the Commonwealth Bank. This saw a special visit from ‘Coach Cash’, a personal money trainer who provided tips on how to be clever with coins. read more

Sausage sizzle for Youth Focus
In support of the Youth Focus charity, boys from the Preparatory School purchased a sausage and drink for lunch on Tuesday. To ensure the BBQs ran smoothly, Principal Alan Jones was in the kitchen taking charge of the sizzle as orders rolled in. read more
Green power
Amy Warne from Earth Carers was a special guest at a recent Preparatory School Assembly, sharing awareness and education regarding battery recycling and sustainability. The boys from 4SS enjoyed performing a play based on reducing waste, reusing items and recycling rubbish before being joined on stage by a friendly mascot and playing a game focused on placing batteries into the correct bin. read more
Dale House take out victory at 2017 House Swimming Carnival
After two days of competition, Dale House are the 2017 Preparatory School House Swimming Champions. In one of the closest finishes, Dale finished on 1,236 points, followed by Stirling (1,232), Giles (1,175) and Forrest (1,162). Dale House was also awarded the Spirit Shield for demonstrating great sportsmanship and spirit at both carnivals. The presence of their Year 6 leaders at the Years 3 and 4 carnival was a wonderful new addition. read more
Celebrating the Year of the Rooster
This week as part of the Preparatory School Mandarin classes, boys embraced Chinese New Year by creating Chinese lanterns and enjoying a live cooking demonstration (fried rice). They were also treated to a variety of culturally rich and fun activities related to the Chinese celebration. read more
