Making the most of sleep
There are a number of things that can interfere with your sleep, including a late/delayed body clock, stress/anxiety, feeling pressured to “do it all” and undervaluing sleep. During high school, around nine hours per night is recommended (but this varies from person to person). A few nights of poor sleep won’t be the end of the world, and there are individual differences in how much sleep we need. read more

All boys were invited to the Senior Library this week to meet visiting authors David Wish-Wilson and Sean Gorman, and to bear witness to the Senior Library’s ‘Great Derby Debate’. Army Cadets deliver an exemplary start
Our Army Cadet Unit have been keeping busy with a number of support activities in past months, including a recent guard and flag orderly for Dalkeith Primary School’s Anzac assembly. This was their sixth year of involvement and is now an annual fixture on the unit’s calendar. read more

WA da Vinci Decathlon 2017
Eight students in each Years 7 to 10 competed in the WA da Vinci Decathlon at Wesley College in late March. The da Vinci decathlon is an academic competition in which boys work together to complete tasks across 10 different disciplines. These include Mathematics, Science, English, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Cartography, General Knowledge, Creative Producers, Ideation and Engineering. read more
New York, New York
Twenty-one boys from Years 9 to 12 will be heading across to the Big Apple next week as part of our popular Art Tour. This 17-day tour will include New York City via Hong Kong where each student will get to experience the authentic, contemporary cultural vibe that each city has to offer. read more
Earthkeepers go above and beyond
Whilst the Year 5 Earthkeepers Outdoor Education program may be finished up at Kooringal, the boys will be working hard at home and in class to become ‘Level One Earthkeepers’. read more
The Mask You Live In
Our Year 10 boys were recently invited to a screening of the U.S documentary The Mask You Live In which follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating society’s narrow definition of masculinity. read more
Solving real-world problems using robots
Each year, the School sends a team of students to compete in the Rescue division of the ‘RoboCup’. RoboCup is an annual and international robotics competition with teams ranging from high school to post-graduate university level competing from all over the world. read more

Building our next generation of engineers
Each Friday morning, our Mathematics Department run a specialist class for students from Years 10 to 12 who are on the Maths Methods or Maths Specialist pathway, and are interested in studying engineering (particularly mining engineering) at university. read more

Founder and CEO of zero2hero, Ashlee Harrison, was at Christ Church recently speaking to our Year 11 boys on how to effectively deal with mental health issues. The visit complements our Personal and Spiritual Development (PSD) program delivered to all boys from Years 7 to 10. read more
Year 12 Psychology class gets a furry visitor
Our Year 12 Psychology boys invited a friendly and furry visitor into class this week – Barnsey the guide dog. Barnsey came with trainer Phil Stanley from Guide Dogs WA and Phil shared insights with the class on how to best train animals and the psychological theory behind their training methods. read more
Romsey claims win at 2017 House Swimming Carnival
Romsey House claimed its second consecutive victory on Tuesday night at the Senior School House Swimming Carnival held at HBF Stadium. With 750 points, Romsey won the Lapinski-McCoubrie Cup ahead of Wolsey (705), followed by Moyes (659.5), Noake (649), Jupp (612.5), Craigie (595), Queenslea (591) and Hill (545). read more

Art Camp 2017

Exploring the world of biomes at Perth Zoo
Year 9 boys visit Perth Zoo on Wednesday 15 February to explore the world of biomes. The boys spent time learning about and observing animals and vegetation across three different biomes which they recently have been studying; Australian hot desert, Asian rainforest and the African savannah. read more

The ’99 Club’ recognises and celebrates our leaving students who achieve outstanding academic results in their ATAR.
