Monday evening we held the first Parent/Teacher/Student interview for our Year 7’s, this is always a busy and intense experience for the first time with Senior School Teachers. Please remember to contact your son’s Tutor should you have any further questions after these interviews. Tuesday evening was our 2022 Year 7 Parent Information Evening, this event was recorded for those parents who were unable to attend, and a link to this presentation will be available shortly.
On Wednesday our Years 7 and 8 cohorts attended a seminar with Paul Litherland on cyber safety, during which he covered the important topics of cyber bullying, online footprint, social networking, gaming and information sharing. Mr Litherland also presented to a number of parents that same evening on online safety and awareness.
Our Year 11 and 12 students are currently completing their mid-term exams or a work experience placement. It can be a stressful and overwhelming time for our boys, and it important that our boys are reminded to look after themselves, both physically and mentally. Head of Health and PE, Mr Luke Farmer has invited our Senior Boys to attend the gym facility over the exam period on Monday to Friday, from 6.00am to 9.00am and 5.00pm to 8.00pm to ensure they continue to exercise. Parents are welcome to join their son in the gym in the afternoon only from 5.00pm to 8.00pm.
This Friday is the House Cross Country event, our boys in Years 7 to 9 will be going to King’s Park to spectate or compete, along with our Year 10, 11 and 12 teams. Fingers-crossed the thunderstorm predictions for that afternoon are incorrect! This weekend our PSA teams have a bye, and our Boarders Weekend Farm Stay. Our Years 7 and 8 boarders from Knutsford House are all going for an overnight stay on a farm near Moora, and will then complete the ‘Moora Park Run’ on Saturday morning.
Today is the first day of National Reconciliation Week for 2021. It is an important week here in the Senior School, as we have a population of proud Aboriginal students, many who live away from home in our Boarding Community. It is important that we support Aboriginal culture and achievement and to deepen our knowledge so that we can all contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
