  • Bike security
  • D Locks
  • Inters Athletics on Friday

Last week I mentioned to the boys in Assembly the need to ensure that bikes are secured in the school bike racks with a ’D’ lock to provide the highest level of security. An audit of the bike racks showed that 20% of the bikes were not secured and another group of bikes had very flimsy cable locks. Although the bike racks are within the building precinct, away from Queenslea Drive, the campus is still open and members of the public can walk through.

Our athletes are to be congratulated for the way they have tackled their training and worked with coaches to perform at their best for tomorrow’s PSA Athletics Carnival. Regardless of the final result we are very pleased with the efforts made by those representing us. Last Friday at the Tri Carnival, attendees saw all athletes battle the chilly conditions to compete and strive to achieve their personal best.  The commitment of athletes and coaches in a very short and rain affected season has been exceptional.

Thank you to the members of our community that registered for the Dr Justin Coulson Anxiety in your Child Seminar last night, brought to the School by The Wynne Centre for Boys’ Health and Wellbeing. We had a strong Christ Church presence online. For those who may have missed the event, a link to the recording of the seminar is available here and under the Year Group notices. This will be available to the school community until next Thursday.

On the academic front, the Year 12 boys will complete their final in-class assessments this week and are now preparing for Trial Exams. This period of the year builds levels of stress and anxiety in many boys as they approach the last phase of their schooling. I have include a link here, provided by the Wynne Centre for Boys Health and Wellbeing that looks at working with our children through this period of their lives.

This time of term also heralds the beginning of the student leadership transition period. The Year 11 nominated House Prefects have commenced prefect duties under the guidance of the School Marshall. All Year 11 boys, by virtue of their seniority, will be expected to act as role models for younger students and ensure routines and high standards are maintained.
