  • Music and Drama events to go ahead
  • Year 8 Combined Outdoor Experience
  • PSA derby against Scotch

With the COVID-19 restrictions relaxed we can confirm several events in the Arts. This Saturday afternoon we will be able to enjoy some quality musical performances by numerous ensembles, quartets, and bands, covering a range of different musical genres at Music to the Fore. We are sure to be treated to some exceptional music, so bring you rug and come and enjoy the afternoon in the Chapel Forecourt from 3.00pm to 6.00pm. Please register your attendance here.

Whilst the muso’s get on the stage this weekend the Drama Department are well into rehearsals for ‘The Three Musketeers’, which will be performed by our Years 9 and 10 students here at Christ Church in Week 4, 18 to 21 May. This looks to be an entertaining play, if the rehearsals are anything to go by this week. You can purchase your tickets here.

This week has seen the first phase of the Year 8 Combined Outdoor Experience with St Hilda’s. In Term 1 – with the uncertainty that camps would be allowed to go ahead in Term 2 – the plan for this program was amended. Under the new plan, the program would be better described as three one-day excursions. On the first day the students headed to Mountain Quarry (Boya) for the day where there is an opportunity to partake in a climbing and abseiling experience. On day two the students spent the day at Kings Park working on navigation, team building and a Noongar cultural session. Day three was located in and around the Lane Poole Reserve, not far from Kooringal, where the students develop their expedition skills with a bushwalk and journey down the Murray River in rafts or canoes. From all reports it has been a fantastic three days of outdoors action for the Year 8 boys and girls.

This Friday and Saturday we play Scotch in the local derby, as it is known. After a terrific first round of Winter sport, where all first teams recorded wins against Trinity, there is plenty of optimism about this week’s fixture. Given the close rivalry between the two schools it would be nice to come away with more wins than losses. I am sure the players would appreciate a good crowd of supporters wearing the blue and gold at the matches this week.
