  • Farewell to staff
  • Years 7 to 11 Final Assembly and Prize Giving

As we move into the last week of the school year, staff have been reminding students about their responsibilities in relation to books, devices, belongings, and lockers. All students have been emailed regarding the day and time for the return of their school equipment, which differs for each year group (details are also on the school calendar). Something we have also been emphasising is that textbooks need to be returned on time and in good order to avoid any fees to parents. I’d like to ask you to please remind the students of their obligations in this regard.

Tomorrow we will welcome home our Year 10 ‘Venturers.’ It was very pleasing to see many of the groups in such high spirits last weekend. Venture is a very important rite of passage for Christ Church students. They return from their adventuring with a sense of great achievement, their experiences providing stories for a lifetime! I hope you will notice a difference in the students on their return. The estimated return times for the Venture groups have been emailed to Year 10 parents along with other details about pick-up on Friday.

For a few students and staff, the next week will be their last at Christ Church. From our teaching staff, the following individuals are moving on for a range of reasons. Monty Nathan (English/OQD), Jarrod Kayler-Thomson (Physical Education/OQD), Spencer Davis (Centre for Excellence), Jody Clarke (Careers), and Rhys Shore (English). There is no doubt that the role of a teacher at Christ Church is both challenging and rewarding. I want to take a moment to acknowledge the efforts of these staff over varying periods of service and the positive outcomes they have created for the students over their time at the School.

Next Wednesday afternoon the final fixture for Senior teams will take place against Wesley. All students in Years 10 and 11 will finish timetabled classes at 12.45pm. If your son is not fixtured to have a game, they will be able to go home. To view the fixtures please click here.

On Friday 1 December from 11.00am to 12.15pm we will have the Years 7 to 11 Final Assembly and Prize Giving. This assembly celebrates the achievements of the students over the past year and provides opportunity to acknowledge those who are leaving. The event is held in the Chapel where space is at a premium. Regretfully, we are unable to accommodate all our Senior School parents and therefore only parents of prize-winners will receive invitations to attend. Please remind your son that it is important to wear his formal uniform for this occasion. All students will be able to leave the campus at 12.15pm.
