Last Friday we welcomed almost 400 Grandparents and Grandfriends to the campus to celebrate our annual Preparatory School Grandparents Day which you can see here. Grandparents and Grandfriends Day is an important part of our Preparatory School Springtime Celebration which started with our Open Classrooms day last Thursday and continued this week with the Preparatory Music Concert on Tuesday. The Springtime Celebration culminates next week with the premiere of the Year 6 play Splash. These events are a wonderful opportunity to proudly showcase the incredible teaching and learning that the boys experience here at Christ Church and celebrate all of our boys’ achievements.
On Thursday and Friday last week the School competed in the JPSSA and PSA Inters Athletics carnivals respectively. After a day of exceptional sportsmanship our Preparatory School athletes were awarded first place in the competition, winning our first JPSSA Athletics trophy since 2012. The next day, our Senior School athletes delivered a valiant effort, finishing in fifth place, with Scotch College taking out first place. The PSA Inters Athletics carnival represents the final event in the PSA Winter sports roster and we now look forward to the exciting action and sunnier weather of the PSA Summer sports season beginning in Term 4.
Things are beginning to look a little different on campus this week as our Year 11 Prefect nominees begin to assume their leadership duties while our Year 12 students prepare for their Trial Exams and the culmination of their school journey. I have been encouraged by the attitude and responsibility on display from our Year 11 leaders in the absence of their Year 12 peers and I look forward to watching them grow into their new roles as we approach the end of the year. While this is a time of transition, the looming exam period can also be one of stress and anxiety for some students. In order to help manage this stress the Wynne Centre for Boys’ Health and Wellbeing has provided a valuable resource that contains excellent advice for students and can be accessed here.
The School’s annual MMG Satisfaction Survey commenced is in the final weeks. The survey was emailed to all Years 3, 6, 9 and 12 parents by MMG and the School would greatly appreciate your feedback. Your comments form part of our continuous improvement in the quality education we provide to our students. To ensure confidentiality and encourage frank and full expression of views, all responses will be treated in strict confidence and respondents will not be identified to the School by MMG Education on the basis of questions asked or responses made.
Next week we see the term concluding and the final day is after the national public holiday acknowledging the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. School resumes the next day, Friday 23 September. Next week we will issue CCGS World on Wednesday 21 September.
