On Friday I attended the celebration of 21 years of Christ Church student involvement with the Surf Life Saving movement. Congratulations to Alli Gould, Teacher in Charge Surf Life Saving Cadets, who created an afternoon of activities to showcase and celebrate this wonderful collaboration. You can see photos from the day here.
Thank you to the Parents’ Association for hosting the Sequins and Suits event on Friday evening. The Blue Gym was transformed into a great space and with close to 600 parents in attendance it was an enjoyable evening. Social events like this one are important in building the culture of our community. Images from the evening can be seen here.
On Sunday the weather was perfect for the House Rowing Regatta, bringing together the rowing community for a fun start to the season. Romsey took out the main event, winning by less than a boat length with all crews giving it their best effort. Following the rowing events the Captain and Vice Captain of boats for the season were named, congratulations to Angus Park and Sam Singleton respectively. This will be a great season for Christ Church with our largest number of rowing students ever in Years 8 and 9. Here are photos from the weekend.
The Senior School witnessed the induction ceremony for School and House Prefects at this morning’s assembly. These boys will be the leaders in our student community for 2023 and will play vital roles throughout the year. Becoming a leader is something we encourage in both the Preparatory and Senior School and hope that all our students aspire to become leaders in aspects of their lives. Our students develop their leadership by observing those around them, including how to respond to criticism, confront failure and communicate, and I look forward to these Prefects being a pivotal part of the School. A list of the 2023 School and House Prefects can be found here.
Next week James and the Giant Peach will be on in the Drama Centre. This Midnite production is performed by Years 7 and 8 students and runs from 2 to 5 November. As with all of the Drama and Midnite productions this will be an entertaining show with a talented group of thespians! Bookings can be made here.
Our Year 12 students commence their final examinations next week. On behalf of the staff and students, I would like to wish our Year 12 cohort all the very best for these examinations.
