At the commencement of the 2019 school year we welcomed our youngest learners into the Early Learning Community and our new Preparatory School. The first 16 weeks of their journey with the School have been filled with new learning experiences and support by exceptional staff. One of the boys recently told me that he loves playing outside and that the playground and his friends make him happy. Our parents have similar sentiments, commenting that the boys are becoming confident, independent and are happy and content.
Following on from the ELC introduction we have commenced community sessions, the Little Learners for parents and carers of boys under the age of three. These sessions are aimed at developing our youngest community members’ love for learning. If you know of anyone who would like to attend these sessions, the next is on Monday 27 May and it’s not too late to register here.
The Christ Church and St Hilda’s combined parent event last Saturday night was a great success, it was really terrific to see so many members of our communities come together for a fun evening.
Tomorrow we welcome Archbishop Kay Goldsworthy to the School to celebrate ‘Archbishop’s Day’. The Archbishop is listed as the Visitor for all Anglican schools in the state and we are really delighted to be welcoming her to the School. Archbishop Kay has a busy morning with us – she will be speaking with the Prep School boys at assembly, meeting with the Year 10 Christian faith leaders, attending a Year 8 Religious Education class and meeting with the Senior School staff. Please see our Facebook post on her visit.
On Saturday I look forward to seeing parents and boys at our Indigenous Round of Football at Mount Claremont, starting at 10.00am. This coincides with National Sorry Day and we will be joined by Professor Simon Forrest who will be performing a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony.
Next week we are heading towards the mid-term break and the campus takes on a quieter perspective. Our Year 11 and 12 boys begin their mid-year exams and I wish them every success during the exam period.
