With spring just around the corner and warmer weather to come, it is an ideal time to spend more time outdoors. As parents, we all want the best for our children, and one of the simplest yet most effective ways to support their growth is by encouraging outdoor play. Playing outside is not just about having fun; it plays a crucial role in your son’s overall development.
Outdoor play helps boys stay active, which is essential for building strong muscles, and boosting their overall physical health. It also offers a natural outlet for their boundless energy, helping them sleep better at night! We are extremely fortunate to have an amazing nature playground with a range of climbing challenges that the boys enjoy tackling each day. Beyond the physical benefits, playing outside is a fantastic way for children to develop social skills. When they interact with others on the playground, they learn to share, take turns, and resolve conflicts – skills that are invaluable both in and out of school. Outdoor play also nurtures creativity and problem-solving abilities. Whether they’re building a fort, inventing a new game, or exploring the natural world, children use their imaginations in ways that indoor activities do not always allow.
In today’s technology-focused world, outdoor play gives children a much-needed break from screens, helping them connect with nature and minimise all the distractions of technology. By making time for regular outdoor play, you’re helping your child grow into a healthy, happy, and well-rounded individual. So, let’s hope for more blue skies soon, so you can send your sons outside or go and visit some of the incredible nature playgrounds around Perth.
This week, the boys have celebrated one of the most popular weeks on the school calendar: Book Week! Our wonderful library staff have planned this week’s lessons around this year’s Book Week theme of ‘Reading is Magic’. Each lunchtime, all students have been offered the chance to participate in magical activities, such as make your own dragons, magician tips and tricks, and finding the pop-up library. The week will come to an end tomorrow with the highly anticipated Book Week Assembly and Parade, where the students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character. This always proves to be a fun and exciting day and staff are looking forward to seeing the boys dressed up.
Finally, I would like to congratulate our BGM Award winners for this week.
