This week the Preparatory School hosted Claire Warden, an educational consultant who has developed her approach to nature pedagogy and experiential learning through a variety of experiences. Claire provided a professional learning experience for Christ Church Preparatory staff and teachers across Perth focussed on nature pedagogy. Rachael Durston, our Year 2 teacher and Co-ordinator of Years 1 and 2 was instrumental in forming this connection and our Early Years Program has benefitted from Claire’s approach to learning.
On Monday we held The Great Vegie Crunch as part of our launch of Crunch and Sip, a healthy eating campaign where boys are encouraged to bring in vegetables and fruit to eat during our Crunch and Sip time. Vegie Man made an appearance and was very impressed with the volume of the crunch generated by the boys. We look forward to all families supporting this healthy eating initiative and encourage all boys to bring in healthy eating options for our daily Crunch and Sip time which occurs at approximately 10.00am daily.
This week we will see our Years 4 to 6 boys compete at the JPSSA Athletics Carnival at the Western Australia Athletics Stadium in Mt Claremont. Parents are welcome to attend and support our boys as they compete against other JPSSA schools. We wish our Athletics team and staff all the best for this event.
ICAS testing has continued during Week 8 with Writing and Spelling assessments completed in Sandover Dining Hall. Week 9 will see the Mathematics and English assessments being completed with over 160 boys completing these tests.
All boys have been busy rehearsing for their House Shout, with all four Houses looking to out sing each other during the House Shout event in Week 10. Boys have been working on harmonies and vocal dynamics to win this highly anticipated event, with House points earned going towards the Giles Shield, the overall winning House for the year.
Please find this weeks’ recipients of the Building Good Men Awards here.
