The Pre-Primary to Year 3 boys conclude their swimming lessons this week and are all looking forward to showing off their new skills at the Pre-Primary to Year 2 Swimming Carnival on Tuesday 10 November. The boys have enjoyed small group sizes in the pool while being taught by experienced Kirby Swim teachers.

The Year 3 and 4 boys are looking forward to putting their basketball skills into practise at their respective basketball carnivals next week. The Year 4 boys head to Bendat Basketball Centre and the Year 3 boys head to Willetton Basketball Stadium on Thursday 12 November. Good luck to those boys.

As part of our continued focus on writing, boys in Years 3 to 6 are submitting stories to Storyathon, the 100-word micro story competition. With the theme of ‘Imagination’, the following was written by Vidarsha Jayasinghe from 6NH.

The stick floats higher and higher, as do my hands, making it fly. My hands drop and so does the stick. Whoa! I can do magic. I run onto the house, screaming and yelling. “Mum! MUM!” I shout. She storms out of her room with a murderous look on her face.
“What?” she asks coldly.
“Come outside. Mum, I can do magic!” I say.
Sceptically, she says, “No you can’t. Magic isn’t real.”
“But it is magic. Just come and look.”
I drag her outside. I concentrate hard and the house explodes into a million pieces. Her jaw drops.
“I told you so.”

This Friday our Year 6 boys will have the opportunity to experience some learning activities in the Senior School as part of their transition experiences. Boys will head over to the Design and Technology and Science department for activities led by departmental heads, Mr Alec Barbour and Mr Edward Hogg. This is a tremendous opportunity for our Year 6 boys to familiarise themselves with the location of these buildings, meet some of the staff and get a taste for what is to come next year as the make the long journey to the other side of the oval.
