Our Year 6 boys were involved in a special activity this week – a unique ‘get-to-know-you’ on the school oval.

The boys met with 75 Year 6 MLC girls who will be joining them on their upcoming Canberra Tour. This was an opportunity for the boys to get to know the girls and vice versa. As part of this unique activity, the boys pre-made origami ‘chatterboxes’ which contained a range of questions to ask the girls such as:

  • Describe your funniest moment
  • Do you have a pet? If so, please tell me about your pet
  • What is your favourite colour and why?
  • What are you looking forward to in Canberra?

“The boys are very excited to be heading across to Canberra. This activity was a great ice-breaker ahead of the trip”, said Deputy Head of the LW Parry Preparatory School, Holly Miller.

Year 6 student and participant Daniel Hales said “It was fun to meet the MLC girls. Some of the boys were nervous to meet the girls, but the chatterboxes made it easier. After a while, we just talked without the question prompts.”

During the last week of this term the boys and girls will get to experience Canberra first hand and confirm their learning on the topic of ‘Democracy and Federation.’ The boys look forward to visiting places such as the Australian War Museum, Parliament House, the Australian Institute of Sport and the National Gallery just to name a few.

The CCGS and MLC students will meet in Canberra on two occasions with ten pin bowling and a dinner at Jamie’s Italian.
