Record checks

Applicants for all positions must provide the following two documents:

  1. Working With Children (WWC) Check
    1. The Working with Children Check is a compulsory screening strategy for people engaging in child-related work in Western Australia (WA)
    2. Information on how to apply for or renew your Working with Children Check can be found here
    3. The initial application for the Working With Children Check must be made in person. When lodging the application, applicants need to present sufficient documents to meet 100 points identification criteria.  A list of participating Australia Post outlets can be found here
  2. National Police Certificate (NPC)
    1. A National Police Certificate contains a list of a person’s disclosable court outcomes and pending charges from all Australian police jurisdictions. This includes traffic and non-police prosecuted matters
    2. Certificates will not be accepted unless they have been issued in the last six months

  3. National Co-ordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)
    1. A National Co-ordinated Criminal History Check is available to volunteers, pre-service teachers, school council or board members.
      1. Volunteers and practicum students will be charged $10
      2. Public school council and board members are not charged.

The Working With Children Check (Criminal Record Check) requires people who start or continue to work with children to have a National criminal check.

The Working With Children Check Form is available from certain Australia Post outlets throughout the state. A list of participating Australia Post outlets can be found here.

An application for the Working With Children Check must be made in person. When lodging the application, applicants need to present sufficient documents to meet 100 points identification criteria. Please note this is a personal expense.

This State Legislation requirement is in addition to a Criminal History Record Check that is obtained by applying to the Screening Unit at the Department of Education and Training for Teaching Staff or the Federal Police Clearance.
