Christ Church athletes find success in the holidays

On the back of winning four trophies in the PSA Summer Sport season, Christ Church athletes have kept their successful streak going with a number of our students achieving remarkable things over the holiday break.
Hockey
Five Christ Church boys (Year 11 students Travis King and Ethan Yem, and Year 12 students Sebastian Chandraratna, Nicholas Ng, and Fletcher Wetherell) represented WA at the Hockey Australia U/18 Championships in Cairns, Queensland.
Nicholas Ng was a member of the successful Gold team which took out the title.
The U/15 Gold team also did very well. Silver medallists.

Swimming
The 2022 Australian Age Swimming Championships took place in Adelaide last week with four Christ Church students achieving incredible results in the pool.

- 5th 100 freestyle
- 3rd 14/15 WA Team boys 4×50 freestyle relay
- 3rd 13/14 WA Team mixed 4×50 medley relay
Sam Hicks (Year 10)
- 1st 50 backstroke
- 2nd 100 backstroke
- 3rd 200 backstroke
- 3rd 13/14 WA Team mixed 4×50 medley relay
Tom Michael (Year 12)
- 9th 100 fly
Australian Surf Lifesaving Champs
Joshua Neervoort (Year 11) won silver medal for in the U/17 2km beach run in Korowa, Qld
Jackson Anderson (Year 9) won bronze in the U/15 surf race, marking North Cottesloe SLSC’s first ever youth medal
Rowing
Congratulations to Patrick Walker (Year 12) and Matthew McGrath (Year 12) who have been selected in the State Junior pathway A8 and Angus Park (Year 11) who has been selected to the B8.
Grant Hogarth (Year 12) is involved in the Australian Junior 4 pathway and has been invited to row at the national trials next week.
Basketball
Christ Church Sport Prefect Braelyn Dale (Year 12) competed at the U/18 nationals. The WA metro team, finished 7th out of 13 teams despite narrow losses to both Victoria Metro and Queensland South who ended up being in the grand final.
Football
Austin van der Struyf (Year 12) has been selected to the U/16 state squad.
