Languages Week has brought with it an air of excitement around campus this week, with students participating in an array of multicultural activities. The annual event aims to raise awareness of the benefits of learning a language and to celebrate the linguistic and cultural diversity within our school community.

Some of the many activities on offer have included:

  • Crêpe making
  • French Fencing for French ATAR students
  • Languages Quiz Night with Methodist Ladies’ College, facilitated by our Language teachers
  • Kung Fu lessons
  • Karate instructed by Sensei Mark Golding, Olympic Coach of the Australian Olympic Karate Team at Tokyo 2020 and Founder of Gold Martial Arts
  • Japanese Taiko drum performance
  • French contemporary hip-hop dancing instructed by Ea Sulak of Perth French Theatre. Instructions and music lyrics were in French, with a full choreographed piece built up in 40 minutes
  • Bubble tea at lunchtime and after school
  • Tasting of Zongzi (rice dumplings), a common festival food item to celebrate this year’s Dragon Boat Festival

Students Patrick Day (Year 8) and Raymond Moswen (Year 7) performed a Guzheng duet titled ‘Yellow River’ for Senior School staff at yesterday’s morning briefing – a serene start to the day and an opportunity to celebrate their talents.

With musical, culinary, academic, and physical activities on offer, there has been something for everyone to enjoy. You can see more videos and photos of the week on our Facebook page.
