In late December, four Christ Church Grammar School Surf Life Saving Cadets represented their school and respective clubs (NCSLSC, SNSLSC and CSLSC) in the Returned Services League ‘Cadet of the Year’ competition.
The competing students were judged on their performance in the following categories:
- Uniform – inspection of dress and bearing
- First Aid Theory
- General Knowledge Test – answer questions based on Australian history, current affairs and general knowledge.
- Five Minute Oral Presentation – present a speech based on the cadet’s interpretation of “What ANZAC Day means to me”.
Tom Offer, Will Jones, Charlie Mill and Oscar Lorbeer attended the presentation of medals ceremony on Friday 28 January at a service at ANZAC House.
Teacher in Charge of CCGS Surf Cadets and NCSLSC member Alli Gould said ‘The cadets performed with distinction across all of the compulsory elements. Their speeches were skilfully researched and held the audience captive throughout.”
