There was plenty to celebrate in the Chapel last Friday as the academic achievements of boys from the Preparatory School were formally recognised in front of peers, teaching staff and parents.
The Awards Assembly included a total 417 awards and prizes presented to boys from Years 2 to 6, including a record 12 individual medals for the highest ICAS scores in Western Australia.
Our medal recipients were Nicholas Xu (Year 2), Vivek Varghese (Year 3), Rohan Shetty (Year 4), Jack Cooper (Year 4), Justin Goh (Year 4), Callum Chadbund (Year 5), Oscar Ho (Year 5), Aidan Lim (Year 5), Wesley Peh (Year 6), Hugo Maxted (Year 6), Jeremiah Wang (Year 6) and Aaron Goh (Year 6).
Particular mentions went to Year 2 boys Nicholas Xu and Joshua Koh, who achieved distinctions in the Year 3 Australian Mathematics and ICAS English competitions respectively.
Preparatory School Captain Jeremiah Wang (Year 6) received an impressive 11 awards across multiple competitions and performed Chopin Ballade No.1 on piano during the assembly opening.
Head of the Preparatory School Richard Wright commented, “Exceptional achievement has been demonstrated by these boys throughout 2018 and they are to be commended on their performance.”
“This term we have been reinforcing messages around ‘expression of gratitude,’ as delivered by Reverend Russell during our assemblies. We remind the boys that such rewards recognise achievement that is the end result of hard work and dedication, and not to take things for granted.”
Friday’s event recognised the achievements of boys across competitions including the Australian Mathematics Challenge, Computational Algorithmic Technologies (CAT), Mathematics Olympiad and ICAS Mathematics; Digital Technologies, Science, Spelling, Writing and English.
