Rock musicians draw a crowd at Mojos
Published on: 8 November 2018
Over 250 guests enjoyed performances at Mojos Bar last weekend as the School’s Rock Workshop students brought the venue alive with an eclectic range of music, ranging from Guns ‘n’ Roses to Elvis Presley.
Featuring 14 of our rock bands (Prep, Middle and Senior Rock Workshops) and over 80 students from Years 4 to 12, this year’s event proved a great success with music to satiate every musical taste.
“A great musical afternoon was had by all with highlights including impromptu solos by Year 10 students Arman Brian and Matthew Preston. Their intimate and beautifully executed performances briefly rendered a loud crowd into stunned silence, before wild applause,” says Director of Rock Workshop, Joe Grech.
“Special mention goes to our Senior Rock Workshop bands and Harry Brunner, Jonny Morris, Daniel Wu and Tom Salter’s set which featured original songs Leave, Moment and To Know What I Want. They delighted the audience with dynamic and melodic narratives, great guitar solos and rich vocal harmonies.”
“Josh Ellis held the audience in the palm of his hand and took them on a textural journey through his creative use of guitar percussion and loops.”
Mojos Bar Manager, Bec, remarked, “I’ve never made so many Lemon, Lime and Bitters!”
Thank you to all parents, students, and members of the community who attended the event in support of our young musicians. If your son would like to be involved in a Rock Workshop band in 2019, please contact Ms Karen Sim in the Music Department at ksim@ccgs.wa.edu.au.
