Old Boy Connor Coleman (‘19) featured on Channel 10’s ‘The Project’ this week, sharing his ambition to climb Mount Everest next year. Connor is climbing Manaslu Mountain in the Himalayas (eighth highest in the world) in preparation for his Mount Everest expedition. Not shy of adventure, he summited Mount Kilimanjaro at the age of 18. You can watch the segment here.

There are a number of Christ Church old boys who share Connor’s passion and drive to climb the world’s tallest mountains. Matt Gabriele (‘97) is honoured as an OBA Legend after being the first old boy to summit Mount Everest. He returned to the School in 2019 to share his experience with Year 11 students and again in 2022 to speak at the Preparatory School Sports Awards Assembly about endurance, courage, determination and achievement. Angus Caithness (‘95) has achieved an incredible feat in completing all of the eight summits and has survived the two worst disasters in Everest history (2014 avalanche and 2015 earthquake).

In 2017, Kaleb Sinclair (‘20) spent one of his school holidays trekking 5380m above sea level to reach Mount Everest Base Camp and raised over $6000 for Ronald McDonald House Perth during his expedition. Also in 2017, Senior Teacher and Assistant Head of Humanities Mr Lloyd Hasket took a group of students to Everest Base Camp for the World Challenge. You can read about their adventure on page 40 of the 2017 Mitre here.

We wish Connor all the best in achieving his incredible goal!
