Pre-Primary boys build motor-skills with LEGO

On Friday last week our Pre-Primary boys embarked to Claremont on an excursion to visit the new RELICS: Bricks of the New World exhibition. RELICS is an immersive exhibition created by LEGO Masters Series 2 Winners; Jackson Harvey and Alex Towler.
Built for the young and young-at-heart, using found objects, LEGO, mixed media and multiple layers of storytelling; RELICS: Bricks of the New World is a timely exploration of adaptation, sustainability, diversity and the connections we make with one another.
Pre-Primary teacher Stacey McKenzie said the excursion supported the boys’ learning inside the classroom, “We have recently started a ‘Fine Motor Friday’ where we spend time every Friday afternoon focusing on building our fine motor skills. Strengthening the small muscles in the hands, fingers and wrist helps us to draw, write, cut paper, dress ourselves, improve our hand-eye coordination and supports us in everyday life.”
After exploring the amazing exhibit and getting inspiration from the different models, the Pre-Primary boys had the chance to put their building skills to the test, building some interesting and creative models of their own.
“I liked the glow in the dark LEGO lift the best.” said Pre-Primary student Christopher.
