Last week, six Preparatory students competed in the IPSHA Academic Challenge. The Christ Church teams – The Mind Benders and The Think-a-Lots – were comprised of a mix of students from Years 4, 5 and 6. In this after-school event, students completed 10-minute challenges across six disciplines: Geography (Capital Cities, Countries and Oceans), English (Spelling), Maths (Problem Solving), Maths (General Maths Knowledge), General Knowledge (Australian history, famous artists, general science, technology) and logic puzzles.

Co-ordinator of the Centre for Excellence Mrs Brooke Siegmann was pleased to announce that the ‘Think-a-Lots’ placed third and ‘The Mind Benders’ placed sixth overall. Offering our students the chance to engage in academic competitions outside the regular curriculum enhances their intellectual growth, develops their social skills, and allows them to connect with peers from other schools in an environment that is both competitive and fun.
