Last Friday our Year 3 boys took part in the Start Smart program delivered by staff of the Commonwealth Bank. This saw a special visit from ‘Coach Cash’, a personal money trainer who provided tips on how to be clever with coins.

As an introduction to their financial mathematics unit of work, the boys engaged in a range of activities as they explored the different factors that influence their spending.

“The excitement and energy in the room was electric. The boys were engaged in conversations about money and how they currently save”, said Year 3 Teacher Claire Clemons.

The Start Smart program is aimed at helping young people become smarter with their money by making money management interactive, engaging and fun through a series of free workshops and online resources. Students on completion of the program become empowered with the confidence and competence to make smart decisions about money.

Each year, Start Smart reaches over 500,000 students making it the largest program of its kind in the world.
