Prep boy crowned after running away with the CCGS Gift
Published on: 4 September 2015
Nicholas Tomlinson (Year 5) is arguably the fastest boy at Christ Church after he won the annual CCGS Gift this week. The Gift is a 100m-handicapped sprint race, modeled on the iconic Stawell Gift, one of the world’s most famous and prestigious foot races.
Run on the Preparatory School oval, the event features the fastest 100m sprinters from Year 5 to 12, each handicapped according to their year group. They race for glory and the notorious ‘Boot Trophy’.
Head of Physical Education and Health, Mr Luke Farmer, who introduced the event six years ago, said the Gift was a fun way to motivate boys during the athletics season.
The results were:
1st | Nicholas Tomlinson (Year 5) |
2nd | Jake Stergiou (Year 12) |
3rd | Brodie Wicks (Year 8) |
4th | Alex Rielly (Year 6) |
5th | Rikki Wylie (Year 9) |
6th | Lewis Henry (Year 10) |
7th | Joseph Rohr (Year 7) |
8th | David Doig (Year 11) |
