Scholars Assembly sets the stage for excellence in 2025
Published on: 30 January 2025
The 2025 school year began with excitement as the Christ Church community gathered for the Scholars Assembly on Tuesday. The event celebrated academic excellence and set an inspiring tone for the year ahead.
A highlight of the assembly was the induction of the newest members of the 99 Club – students who achieved an ATAR of 99 or above. Twenty-three new members joined this distinguished group, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
The assembly also featured an address from Rhodes Scholar and Old Boy Jason Lu (’20), who shared his remarkable journey from medicine to mathematics, engineering, and now climate economics. Reflecting on his non-linear path, he said, “My journey has been messy, but there are a million ways to get from one point to another.” His message encouraged students to dream big, embrace change, and pursue their passions, showing how unexpected opportunities can lead to success.
2024 Dux and Captain of School, Jeremiah Wang, also addressed the assembly with a heartfelt speech, offering practical advice as students prepare for the next chapter of their academic journey at Christ Church. He encouraged them to approach the year with confidence and a readiness to step beyond their comfort zones.
The Scholars Assembly was a powerful reminder of Christ Church’s commitment to fostering achievement, ambition, and personal growth. With this strong start, 2025 is set to be a year of learning and success.
