Year 10 students and their their Mothers/Friends gathered bright and early this morning for the Mother/Friend and Son Breakfast, hosted by our Parents’ Association. Attendees heard from School Psychologist Kate Atkinson, who plays a pivotal role in the wellbeing of our students. Kate addressed the importance of mental wellbeing during the students’ senior school years, and offered practical advice for both parents and students on managing stress and fostering a supportive home environment.

Christ Church offers parent/friend and son events during important stages of our students’ development, such as the transition from Year 6 to 7, Year 9, Year 10, and Year 12. By engaging students and their parents or an adult friend/mentor figure at these times, our aim is to facilitate important, conversations in a safe space. This is further supported by inviting guest speakers who are experts in their field to share insights on these subjects.

Our aim is for parents and their boys to actively engage in the process of positive and productive discussions about topics that are considered difficult or uncomfortable.

In addition to learning together and sparking discussions, these events provide an opportunity for attendees to bond over a shared, meaningful experience.
