Year 11 students gathered at the University of Western Australia (UWA) for the annual Ad Astra event, designed to inspire and guide them as they embark on the next chapter of their academic journey. Developed by the Studies Department, the event provided valuable insights into academic success, personal growth, and career exploration, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.

Throughout the day, students engaged in a variety of sessions led by Christ Church teachers and external experts, including Dr Jane Genovese (PhD) from Learning Fundamentals. The sessions focused on motivational strategies, effective study techniques, note-taking and revision tips, and the importance of prioritising health and wellbeing during Senior School. A standout session was the session on utilising Generative AI as a study tool, equipping students with the skills to incorporate modern technology into their learning.

Students also had the chance to participate in a live Q&A session with two distinguished old boys: Sean Morgan (’22), former Captain of School, and Josh Green (’20), recipient of the prestigious Beazley Medal in 2020. The pair shared invaluable insights into their academic journeys, offering advice on navigating Year 11 and beyond, while discussing their personal philosophies for achieving success.

To further enrich the event, Careers Pathway students had the opportunity to complete their White Card Training, acquiring essential skills to prepare them for the workforce.

Year 11 is a crucial time for students to explore career pathways, refine academic skills, and set long-term goals. Thanks to the Ad Astra event, students left UWA feeling energised, confident, and ready to tackle the next phase of their education with purpose.
