Cadets in WA Army Brigade training activities
Published on: 21 July 2022
Over the semester break our Army Cadets were busy participating in WA Army Cadet Brigade training activities with other cadets from across the state.
Our second-year cadets participated in the Cadet Sergeant and Advanced Instructors Course, held at Irwin Barracks over the first week of the holidays. During this course the cadets learn leadership, lesson delivery, planning and rifle drill. Successful completion of the course qualifies cadets for the rank of Sergeant.
In the second week, six of our third-year cadets completed the Adventure Training Award. This challenging endurance activity took place between Stronghills in the Avon Valley and Bindoon Training Area. Cadets were pushed to their limits conducting navigation, pack marching, day and night abseiling, mass casualty evacuation, mountain biking, canoeing, field engineering and quick decision exercises in the field. The cadets were awarded their ATA torch and boomerangs that they now wear with pride on their uniform.
The cadets are now gearing up for the Term 3 Field Training Exercise at the end of Week 3, conducting a navigation exercise through Bindoon Training Area, then weapon training at Irwin Barracks.
