Our Year 9 Creative Writing class was visited yesterday by acclaimed Western Australian poet and Curtin academic, Dr Lucy Dougan. Dr Dougan is currently the Director of the China Australia Writing Centre at Curtin and has published multiple collections including: Memory Shell, White Clay, Meanderthals and The Guardians, which won the WA Premiers Book Award for 2015/16.

Dr Dougan spoke about and modelled a French form of poetry known as ‘pantoume’, and with guidelines the students created their own in relation to their experiences during lockdown.

Head of English, Mr Spencer Davis, remarked that “It was pleasing to see the depths of the boys’ engagement with this unique form of poetry.”
