Cape to Cave Program earns national recognition
Published on: 3 April 2025
The Year 8 Cape to Cave program, a transformative five-day outdoor education experience set in Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, has been awarded the 2024 Outdoor Education Australia Exemplary Program Award. The award recognises the program’s excellence, innovation, and commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
Bringing together students from Christ Church Grammar School with their peers from St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls, the program offers a unique opportunity for collaboration and personal growth encourages students to explore their identities, deepen their understanding of community and culture, and fosters an appreciation for the natural environment.
Through a variety of outdoor activities, students enhance their communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills, while enjoying a break from screens and technology. A key focus of the camp is cultivating healthy relationships between boys and girls, providing students with practical experience in respectful communication and collaboration.
By integrating these aspects, the program promotes well-rounded development, equipping students with the life skills needed to face future challenges. The partnership between the two schools ensures a diverse and supportive environment, preparing students for both personal and social growth.
In May, the 2025 Year 8 cohort will begin their Cape to Cave experience, continuing this enriching program.
