Archbishop leads tradition of thanksgiving

An occasion of religious significance was recently celebrated at Christ Church – Archbishop’s Day.
To celebrate, Archbishop of Perth The Most Reverend Kay Goldsworthy AO delivered a sermon and Eucharist (thanksgiving) ceremony to our Year 12 students and was joined by Father Peter Boyland, Rector of Christ Church, Claremont and School Reverend Nicholas Russell.
Boys in Years 7 to 11 have also had the opportunity to experience a Eucharist ceremony in recent weeks.
“As a leading Anglican boys’ school in Perth we are extremely fortunate to have a strong connection with Christ Church, Claremont and the Anglican Diocese,” said Principal Alan Jones.
“At Christ Church, we believe it is important for boys to develop an understanding of the culture and language of religion and experience this important Anglican ceremony which commemorates the Last Supper.”
“We are a community impacted by our foundation, a foundation formed in the Church that gives us our name, and are proud of our inclusive community which is enhanced by respecting and accepting boys of all faiths.”
For the past two years, Archbishop Goldsworthy AO has been involved in the day named in honour of the position she holds. This celebration was introduced by Principal, Alan Jones two years ago.
