The Big Science Quiz
Published on: 23 August 2016
Last week, Christ Church celebrated National Science Week with the Science Department engaging boys in a number of events, including the annual and supremely popular Big Science Quiz.
The Science block was buzzing as boys were asked;
What is plumbum more commonly known as?
What is the largest carnivorous marsupial in Australia?
Nitroglycerine is used to treat heart disease. What else is it used us?
Which telescope is the furthest from the Earth, Hubble, Kepler or James Webb?
Dr Holly Rose, Head of Science described the quiz as an opportunity for Years 7 to 12 boys to test their scientific knowledge while having fun with their friends.
“The boys had a fantastic time, debating answers to the 40 varied and challenging questions,” she said.
“At Christ Church, we think Science is a lot of fun and we encourage our staff to pass this enjoyment and enthusiasm to the boys.
Congratulations to the 2016 Big Science Quiz winners Joshua Chan (Year 10), Amitabh Jeganathan (Year 10) and Matthew Hamdorf (Year 10).
