More than 250 mothers, significant friends and boys filled the newly refurbished Refectory on Tuesday morning for the annual Parents’ Auxiliary Year 10 Mother/Friend and Son Breakfast. There were smiles all round as the boys presented their mothers with a long-stemmed rose on arrival.

Headmaster Garth Wynne welcomed the attendees to the breakfast before introducing guest speaker Michelle Cowan, who is the inaugural Senior Coach for Melbourne Football Club’s women’s side and an assistant coach at South Fremantle Football Club.

Michelle’s address, titled Floral bras and footy boots, chronicled her wonderful story about her passion for football and coaching, and the importance of goal setting and never giving up. This year she was awarded the 2013 Football Woman of the Year.

Community Groups Co-ordinator Christy Dangerfield said Michelle was a hit with both mothers and boys alike as were the footballs, signed by West Coast Eagles player Dean Cox, which she gave away on the morning.

Mr Wynne concluded the occasion by reminding boys how important their relationship was with their mothers and that the women who surrounded them, would make them the men that they would become.
