In the July holiday Year 11 boys Jake Patmore and Jack Lewsey travelled to Victoria and South Australia where they played for Western Australia in the AFL National Championships.
They both thoroughly enjoyed the social aspect of the trip as much as the football, although neither seemed to be a fan of post-training ice baths!
“We enjoyed hanging out with the boys but the ice baths were definitely the hardest part,” Jake said.
Both boys were named best on ground during the tour, and since arriving home Jake Patmore has been named in the AFL’s National Under 16 team, a great achievement at such a high level of competition.
Year 12 boys Jake Stergio and Caiden Curtin have also had a strong season playing Colts football with the Claremont Football Club. Earlier in the season, Caiden was named in the WAFC’s Under 18 training squad.
The physical workload is a step up at club level according to the boys.
“It’s challenging and hard, with a significantly heavier workload,” Jake said.
