On Saturday, the School hosted the CGGS Regatta, a day filled with impressive athletic performances and a strong sense of community. The weather turned out to be kinder than expected, with calm conditions setting the stage for intense racing. The boys arrived focused and fully prepared, eager to showcase their best rowing abilities.

Parents and volunteers worked hard behind the scenes. They managed logistics and ensured everything ran smoothly. BBQs, food stalls, and a raffle added to the lively atmosphere. It was a clear example of the community’s commitment to a first-class regatta experience.

On the water, CCGS’s crews excelled. Of the twelve competing crews, only three finished off the podium, a testament to the strength of the School’s rowing program. Victories came from the 9E’s, the 3rd VIII, and the 1st VIII, who claimed the prestigious Garth Wynne Trophy in the 1st VIII race aboard their recently christened 8+, the Mark Morrissy.

The regatta not only highlighted athletic skill but also showcased the resilience and teamwork of the rowers. Some competitors, recovering from illness, pushed through to race alongside their teammates, fully embodying the true spirit of the sport.

The School sincerely thanks parents, volunteers, staff and everyone who attended and contributed to organising this memorable event. Congratulations to all the boys who competed. The rowing community is now looking forward to the Head of the River, scheduled for Saturday 22 March.
