Christ Church takes back surfing crown

After finishing second in a count back to Scotch College in 2013, the Christ Church Surfing Team reclaimed its crown in the PSA Surfing Titles held at Scarborough Beach last Friday. It was Christ Church’s fourth win in the past five years.
Teacher in Charge of Surfing Simon Hunn said the team prevailed over Hale School in second place, and Scotch in third, to win in excellent chest to head high waves. “On the day, a combination of consistency and talent led to the Christ Church teams victory,” Mr Hunn said.
In the team divisions, Christ Church won the senior surfing and senior body boarding, came second in the junior surfing and was third in the junior body boarding.
“Within this very even team effort, there were some standout performances from Captain of Surfing Jake Edwards (Year 12) in the senior surfing, Jack O’Grady (Year 12) in the senior body boarding and Jake Patmore (Year 10) in the junior surfing,” Mr Hunn said.
“The senior boys, including Jake, Aidan Walsh (Year 12) and Jack, did a great job leading the team, while the organisational abilities of staff members Bronwyn Fricke and Rob Vickery acted as a formidable support structure,” he said.
The team will compete in the WA Surfing Titles in Term 3.
