Hill stays on track despite wet weather
Published on: 5 September 2014
Inclement weather did not deter Hill House who won the Senior School House Athletics Carnival at the WA Athletics Stadium last Friday. Hill claimed the Akos Kovacs Shield with 1,539 points ahead of second-placed Craigie (1,497), followed by Romsey (1,450.3), Noake (1,335.5), Queenslea, Jupp, Moyes and Wolsey.
Most events ran undeterred, however, a rainstorm resulted in the cancellation of the final round of field events and the 4 x 100m relays. The 1500m races also had to be modified due to water on the tracks.
Trophies were awarded to the following boys:
Staff Cup (Winner of Open 100m) – Aidan Walsh (C)
RG Lynn Cup (Winner of Open 200m) – Aidan Walsh (C)
TM Thompson Cup (Open Jumps/Hurdles) – Sam Petera (H), Hamish St George (Q)
EB Kirby Cup (Open Distance) – David Latham (N)
Shirley Family Cup (Open Throws) – not awarded (no shot put due to weather)
Open Jennings Cup – Aidan Walsh (C)
Under 17 Bowers Cup – Jake Stergiou (M), Anthony Terpkos (H)
Under 16 Maclaren Cup – Zack Bowles (R)
Under 15 Carter Cup – Lewis Henry (R)
Under 14 Lattice Cup – Matthew Tissiman (M)
Under 13 Henderson Cup – Tom Ball (R), Liam Tubby (J), Noah Keleman (J)
Tom Ball (R) set a new school record in the Under 13 200m in a time of 26.45secs, as did Tom Salter (H) in the Under 13 80m Hurdles in 13.67secs and Noah Keleman (J) in the Under 13 High Jump with a height of 1.51m.
