Last week, a group of students returned from an enriching Service in Action (SIA) tour to Marble Bar, where they spent time supporting and connecting with the local community.

During their visit, the students worked alongside teachers at the local school, assisting in classrooms, mentoring students, and building relationships through a variety of engaging games and activities. The tour offered a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the culture, traditions, and everyday life of this remote regional town.

This experience extended beyond service, providing students with meaningful insight into the challenges and strengths of the Marble Bar community. Their time in the region fostered genuine connections with local residents, broadening their understanding of life beyond their own and nurturing empathy and a deeper sense of social responsibility.

This week, the SIA program continued, with a group of Christ Church students, alongside their peers from Methodist Ladies’ College, embarking on a similar journey to the remote community of Nullagine.

Through the SIA program, students not only make a meaningful impact on the communities they visit but also experience significant personal growth – gaining a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity, broader perspectives, and a stronger understanding of the power of service. This ongoing initiative reflects the School’s strong commitment to developing global citizens and encouraging active, compassionate engagement with the world.
