A group of Year 11 and 12 boys spent two days at Curtin University’s School of Design and Art earlier this week, where they received guidance and tuition from some of the state’s leading art educators and artists.

The boys visited the John Curtin Gallery where the had an exclusive conversation with internationally renowned Australian artist Shaun Gladwell; completed life drawing with Fiona Harman; explored printmedia with Susanna Castleden; studied art analysis with Nicole Slatter; painted with Kevin Robertson and developed their sculpture skills with Shannon Lyons.

Head of Art, Pam Yordanoff said it was very humbling that the staff at Curtin University arranged the one on one meeting with Shaun Gladwell.

“He was approachable, articulate and engaging – the boys were very impressed by the opportunity,” she said.

“The boys used Shaun’s philosophy and mantra of ‘putting ideas into action’ as a catalyst for their university immersion experience and did themselves, their families and the School proud.”
