Tom Pennell (Art Captain and School Prefect) has been announced runner up in the two dimensional section of the Meta Design Art Awards for outstanding works created by Year 11 and 12 Art and Design students.

Six hundred students from around Western Australia submitted their work for the competition and Tom was one of only 70 chosen for display at the exhibition.

“To be recognised as runner up in such a high calibre event is a great achievement – we are very proud of Tom,” said Pam Yordanoff, Head of Art.

“Tom possesses an incredible work ethic and a genuine passion for photography and film production. He sets high standards of himself as part of his art practice; always experimenting with new techniques and taking on board constructive critique to enhance his finished works. He is a model student and a fine example to lead the boys within our creative and innovative department,” said Anna Cornell Art, Design and Media Teacher.”

The exhibition runs until 13 August at Gallery Central, North Metro TAFE. The exhibition is open to the public Monday to Friday 10am to 4.30pm and Saturday 12.00pm to 4.00pm.
