Year 7 students make waves at beach activity day

The transition from primary to secondary school is a major milestone in every student’s journey. At Christ Church, the Year 7 students are supported in making this shift with confidence and ease.
Through the Year 7 Transition Program, students quickly settled into Term 1 and embraced their ‘Transition Week’ activities. These activities are designed to help them adjust to Senior School life.
In their first week, students familiarised themselves with the Senior School campus, their new devices, and a range of academic subjects. They also began building friendships and connecting with their Tutors, Heads of House, and teachers.
A key highlight was the beach activity day at North Cottesloe beach last Wednesday and Thursday. Students took part in beach safety exercises and team challenges with the North Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club. Competing in House groups, the boys enjoyed an action-packed morning of beach games. The day was filled with laughter, teamwork, and a strong sense of community. With the scorching weather, students also had plenty of opportunities to cool off with a swim or bodysurf between games.
“The Year 7 Transition Program focuses on creating an environment where students feel connected—not just to each other, but to the wider school community,” said Jamie Foster, Director of Planning and Co-Curricular. “When students are confident and happy, they’re better prepared to tackle the challenges of learning and personal growth. It is also a great opportunity for our Year 11 Peer Support Leaders to step up and assist the Year 7 cohort in their transition to Senior School.”
The beach activity day allowed students to form new friendships and get to know the staff in a relaxed, enjoyable setting. It set a positive tone for their Senior School journey, laying a strong foundation for the year ahead.
